Génisys launches OctopusTM
December 8, 2005
Québec City, December 8, 2005 – Génisys is now marketing OctopusTM, an updated version of its automatic data collection solution for press management. ADC for printing has therefore changed its name to OctopusTM, designed to enable instantaneous communication between production equipment and management systems and within commercial printing plants. As well as reducing waste, OctopusTM provides real-time access to data and leads to productivity gains, essential elements in staying competitive.OctopusTM now allows optimal management of finishing equipment and has already proven more efficient in identifying at precisely which stage of the process a company should intervene in order to reduce production costs.
With this efficient architecture, ADC for printing is changing to OctopusTM. The new name better reflects the solution’s increased versatility, its contribution to manufacturing intelligence within the world of printing, and access to precise data via the management system. Two versions are available according to the technology currently in place to reconcile the number of copies, each of them adapted to the type of production targeted.
OctopusTM completes and reinforces the printing plants’ management system, or ERP. The ERP effectively provides the global data for transactions and productions. Nevertheless, integrating a solution such as OctopusTM allows you to have individual production data, as well as equipment conditions, in real time, allowing for clearer diagnosis. OctopusTM is currently in operation in several of the Transcontinental group’s plants, among others.
It is generally acknowledged in the manufacturing industry that access to more precise production data can lead to a reduction in waste of up to 15%, a 75% reduction in data entry and a significant decrease in machine stoppages – MES: Lower risk, higher reward; isa.org.
